Product description

  • 10x more potent than regular green tea
  • 100x more antioxidants than traditional green, white and black teas
  • Alkalising, detoxifying, energising and rejuvenating
  • Certified Organic

Thanks to its multitude of nutrients, Matcha has been used in China and Japan for its health benefits since the 9th century. These include:

  • General health support
  • Antibiotic properties
  • Relaxation without drowsiness
  • Enhanced mood
  • Improved memory
  • Better concentration
  • Boosted energy levels for up to 6 hours, without nervousness or hypertension

This boost to energy and concentration levels make Matcha a great addition to pre-workout routines, especially when you consider that studies have shown that Matcha can boost metabolism and help the body burn fat about four times faster than average!

With traditional tea leaves or tea bags, the boiling water is only able to extract a small fraction of the nutrients whilst the rest remain in the leaves. However, our Matcha is exceptionally potent because we take advantage of the tea's powerful potential by grinding the entire leaf into a fine powder.

Nutrition

A single serving of our Green Foods Matcha green tea contains 10 to 15 times the overall nutrients and 100 times more antioxidants compared to traditional green, white, black and rooibos teas.

Nutrients include potassium, vitamins A & C, iron, protein, calcium and potent antioxidants such as catechins (EGCg). The catechins in Matcha Green Tea have been shown to have antibiotic properties which promote overall health.

Matcha also contains an amino acid called L-Theanine, which promotes the production of alpha waves, dopamine and serotonin.

Special processing

Our matcha is exclusively grown in Japan by local farmers who cultivate it by traditional methods used for over 800 years. Weeks prior to harvest, farmers cover the plants to protect them from sunlight. This important step helps to increase the chlorophyll levels and turns the leaves dark green. Once it is time to harvest, farmers gently pick the leaves, entirely by hand, and sort them by grade.

Ceremonial grade

This is the highest grade/quality; only the youngest and highest quality leaves are chosen. After sorting, all of the coarse fibres and stems are removed to prepare the leaves for grinding. Our leaves are ground on a stone mill which produces a uniquely shaped powder molecule and contributes to the mild and smooth taste of our Matcha tea.

Directions:

Mix 5g (approximately 2 teaspoons) into 6 to 8 oz (170-230 ml) of cold or hot water—to enjoy a delicious and nutritious beverage.  Can be stirred or whisked.   Be creative—make your own matcha latte, smoothie, iced tea, ice cream and pudding.
